The Yearbook is produced by the journalism class.. It takes over $20,000 to publish the annual hard back book. Students learn how to create a budget and stick to it, call companies to sell ads, do billing, write copy, take pictures, brainstorm ideas, and most of all - work as a team. Contests are held with appropriate rewards, mainly food. Students in grades 9-12 may participate. There will be a few fundraisers, but selling advertising will raise most monies. In 2001, the Shawe yearbook was selected as a Hoosier Star winner, #1 in all yearbook entries from schools of 800 or less in the state of Indiana. Any parents wishing to support the yearbook staff may purchase a $25 patron ad.
