FRENCH I
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
This course is taught in a communicative manner and gives students the basic skills necessary to communicate in a French speaking environment. Students develop basic speaking, reading, and writing skills. The French culture is an integral part of this course.

FRENCH II
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
Prerequisite: French I
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Emphasis is placed on the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) through a high level of student participation. Advanced points of grammar are studied.

FRENCH III
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
Prerequisites: French I & II
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Oral practice is continued in French with further grammatical study. Emphasis is placed on reading and original writing, and new vocabulary is introduced through visual presentations which include French artists. Students examine life in France and discussion is held on similarities and differences between French and American culture.

FRENCH IV
Prerequisites: French I, II & III
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
Students recognize the connections between historical events, French culture, and contemporary society. Students are exposed to French literature and art and conversation and writing based upon readings.

SPANISH I
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
The four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) are taught with emphasis on speaking and understanding of basic Spanish. Culture is explored through music, art, literature, movies, and cuisine.

SPANISH II
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
This course reviews and reinforces grammar previously learned through increased reading, writing, and oral activities. Emphasis is placed on conversation and communication. Most of the class is conducted in Spanish.

SPANISH III
Required: Academic Honors Diploma or Core 40 Diploma
2 Semesters - 2 Credits
This course is an intensive study of reading, writing, and expressing ideas in Spanish.. Oral practice is continued with further grammatical study. Cultural environments are included with emphasis on the culture and history of Spain. Most of the class is conducted in Spanish.

SPANISH IV
