Using the Curriculum Guide
Each year it is important for students to make thoughtful course selections based upon their post-high school goals.
Departments arranged the curriculum guide. Each department's selection contains a list of course offerings, followed by descriptions of the individual courses.
A more detailed explanation of the course is included in the guide. This should be read carefully to see if the course fits your educational plans.
Some courses have special requirements for admission. These requirements are essential and should be met. They are listed in the curriculum guide as prerequisites. Prerequisites must be met before taking a course.

Scheduling Procedure
Check the list of courses available in the applicable school year schedule. See the Course Catalog for the description of courses.
Select the courses that you would like to take. Be certain that you are fulfilling all the department requirements and that you have the necessary prerequisites for each course.
You must take all the required courses at Shawe.
If you are graduating with the "Shawe Memorial Graduation Requirements," you and your parents must sign a waiver in the Guidance Department acknowledging that you are aware of the Indiana Core 40 requirements and that you are choosing not to graduate under these requirements.
Discuss your course choices with your parents.
Make your selection on the schedule form. Have your parents also sign the schedule form.
Schedule Changes
Be certain of your class selections. Changes of schedule will result only within the following guidelines:
| 1. |
Parent, teacher, and Dean of Studies approval must accompany any request for a schedule change.
|
| 2. |
Schedule changes will not be made after the first seven days of a semester.
