Prince of Peace Parish continues to offer opportunities for life long faith formation. Through a greater emphasis on communication and awareness the parish broadens and increases the level of participation in the spiritual life of the parishioners through the following activities:

Rite of Christian Initiation For Adults: Contact people: Sr. Alice Marie, Fr. John, Joe Seaver

Sr. Alice Marie coordinates RCIA, with the assistance of Fr. John and Joe Seaver. The RCIA program enables both non-Catholics and Catholics to learn about the Catholic Faith and its traditions. The program also provides a formation process for non-Catholics who are interested in joining the Catholic Church.

Sacramental Preparation

First Communion & First Reconciliation: Contact Person: Sr. Alice Marie

Confirmation Preparation: Contact Person: Joe Seaver

The Confirmation program is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school. The program assists the candidates for confirmation in reaffirming the Catholic faith, which he or she received at baptism.

Baptismal Program: Contact Person: Joe Seaver

The baptismal program takes place on a quarterly basis.

Grades Preschool-8th: Contact: Sr. Alice Marie

Meeting times and places:

Preschool through 8th grade: Meet most Sundays from 9:15-10:30 a.m. at Pope John School.

Grades 9-12: Meet most Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at the Catholic Community Center.

Adult Religious Education meets most Sundays from 9:15-10:30 a.m. at Pope John library.

Adult Catechetical Team (ACT)

Recognizing that faith is a life long process, the ACT team provides a variety of ways for adults to share their Catholic faith. Through a process of discussion and discernment, the ACT provides a forum in which this ongoing faith journey can thrive.

Purpose
The Commission shall be responsible to achieve the Archdiocesan and Parish goals for on-going faith formation.

Goal
Prince of Peace Parish will continue to offer opportunities for lifelong faith formation. Through a greater emphasis on communication and awareness the parish will broaden and increase the level of participation in the spiritual life of the parishioners and service organizations of the community.

Objectives

1.

Conduct a multi-approach needs assessment to ascertain the faith formation interest and Christian service opportunities of community.

2.

Consult a public relations/marketing person to evaluate our present methods of communication and give suggestions for improvement.

3.

Design, implement and promote the programs to meet these needs.

4.

Recruit the active participation of parishioners with emphasis on youth and young adults.
