The Prince of Peace Catholic Community website supports the Parish mission through the use of Web technology, enhancing the POP Parish value to its many audiences. These audiences include parishioners, students, parents, teachers, administrators, office staff, volunteers, prospective parishioners, prospective students and their families, neighbors, visitors and the general public.

 Our Objectives for the Web

  1. Provide a real-time, accessible and usable vehicle for communicating and disseminating information within the POP Parish and School communities
  2. Enhance POP’s presence on the Internet, positively representing the Parish and School to the Madison community and reflecting POP’s broader mission
  3. Develop informative and engaging material that is presented in an attractive, consistent, professional manner
  4. Enable all visitors to navigate the website and related applications easily and effectively by providing consistent navigation and logically defined content areas, with pages optimized for download speed and accessibility
  5. Gradually replace paper-based communication within the POP Parish and Schools
  6. Using web-based applications and consistent use of these programs enhance the interaction between POP parishioners, ministries leaders, organizations, schools and POP parents and teachers.
  7. Through processes, resources and training, ensure that the new POP website and related applications are self-sustainable and continue to evolve and improve over time.
  8. Address privacy-related concerns on POP web sites and related applications through adoption and use of policy and procedures.

About this Site

We are now part of the Web 2.0 generation! Web 2.0 refers to a second age of web-based communities — which aims to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing between users.

Our particular site was built using Joomla, which is a “content managed system” (or CMS). This design will allow POP volunteers, teachers and staff (who are assigned as “Authors”) to post content directly and immediately to the site.

How to navigate the site

  • The Mainmenu which is horizontal near the top of the page presents the main sections of the website.
  • When your mouse hovers over a Mainmenu item a dropdown list will lead you to the specific pages related to that section.
  • Some of the items on the dropdown menu may have a white arrow on the right to indicate and display additional pages related to that item.
  • Clicking on any item from the Mainmenu, a dropdown menu or the right side sub-menu will open that specific page.
  • Each page also has a menu on the left hand side that repeats the items from that section’s dropdown menu.
  • The Homepage contains the most popular pages, including the weekly parish bulletin and the two school newsletters.
  • From the Homepage click on the Article Title (or click the "more" link) to advance to the full page.
  • From the horizontal Mainmenu, clicking on the brown button most often will open a blog style page similar to the Homepage except displaying articles related to that particular section of the website.
  • For the first time the Prince of Peace Catholic Community will have a master Calendar which will (eventually) have every parish and school event listed.  This will help eliminate scheduling major events on top of other major events as well as helping determine if the desired date is already filled with many events.
  • You can view the Calendar in any number of ways: by the month, week, or day, or sorted by a particular category.
  • The Calendar on specific pages will show the event relevant to that portion of the Prince of Peace Catholic Community. For example the Shawe page calendar will only display events related to Shawe plus any events designated a Major Event.
You can always use the "Search" feature to help find what you are looking for.
