                                                            Oblates of St. Benedict

Benedictine Oblates are Christian men and women who want a richer spiritual life deeply rooted in God.
Our local chapter is affilated with the Benedictine monastery, St. Meinrad Archabbey.  We share a spiritual union and human friendship with the monastic community there.  The chapter provides a small local community of believers who support one another and join together in prayer and spiritual journeying.  We meet the second Sunday of the months of September to February in the Catholic Community Center.  Our Epiphany Party in January is usually held in someone's home.  At our meetings we pray together the Liturgy of the Hours and listen to some spiritual direction from a monk from St. Meinrad.  We have the opportunity to attend Oblate Retreats at St. Meinrad in December and March.  An oblate continues to live and work in the secular world, but with the wisdom and guidance of the Benedictine way of life.  Oblates are encouraged to start and end each day with prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours and also to do reading and meditating on Scripture and holy readings.
Oblates are encouraged to find God in everyday life and in whomever they meet.
