Visitor needed

Please go visit one of our ailing members. Mike Dattilo at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home. His Dialysis treatment occurs three times a week and is quite draining of his energy. Please call Jennifer Abbott, program director, at 273-4696 to schedule the best time to visit. Days can go by mighty slow if all you are doing is waiting for something to happen and nothing does.

Dues

We have sent out Knight Alert letters to those who haven’t yet paid their yearly dues. Please include the $2.00 Culture of Life assessment from Supreme to your dues for a total of $38.00.  The retention committee has been notified and will begin making telephone calls.

Because of this extra assessment from Supreme, next year’s dues notices will be increased $2.00 to $38 for the year.

End of the Month Meals

Your next opportunity to help with this activity is September 18 at the Trinity Methodist Church Kitchen.  It is on this early date because of the Chautauqua weekend and the resulting traffic nightmare. Come to the church about 10:30 AM so we can get started with sending out the meals. We need drivers willing to deliver the meals to our clients. Usually you’ll be finished by 1:00 sometimes it might take longer. For further information on your volunteering for this pleasant activity of Charity, contact David Craft, 273-5664.

 State Hospital Visit

September 22nd, will be the monthly visit with patients from the State Hospital.  If you wish to volunteer for this activity, call Paul Bird at 265-3056, he will be glad to help you by giving further details. Paul reports that this month's visit will be at the Bob Schafer’s farm if the weather cooperates.

Update

If you have changed your ISPs like I have, your email address has probably changed. Mine has, it is now This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please send me an email with your new address. You can always read the newsletter on the parish website at http://www.popeace.org/joomla15/index.php. That will come out before the printed paper gets to you. This also saves in the postage we pay for each newsletter which goes through the Post Office.

Fri. Meals

This can be a money-making opportunity for our parish organizations, but it is up to you to ask for a night. We have missed the last 4 Fridays so if we don’t get started soon we’ll lose the usual crowd. We can obtain the food for you if you wish, tell us what you want. Of course, you will have to pay for the food, the profits are yours. Check the sign for the meals which are coming.

Pray

Pray for the return to health of; Father Sheets, John Lee, Larry Wykoff, Jim McKenna, Don Wood, Rick Burress, Tom Woodburn, Mike Dattilo, Charly Peters, Jim Koehler, Charles Requet, Jr., John Kaltenbacher, Dr. Stucker, Cindy Gardner, Margaret Schaum and Sister Alice Marie. Please pray for the well-being of all those who are serving in the Armed Forces, and for our boys and girls in the Gibault Home in Terre Haute, this facility is our state charity effort.

Worldwide Rosary of Guadalupan Love

We prayed this prayer twice, once before the meeting and once after the meeting on Sept. 8, this was an Orderwide devotion sponsored by the Supreme Council with the intention of praying for Our Lady’s intercession for unity and peace. The Rosary of Guadalupan Love will be prayed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, Sept. 8 from 9-10 p.m. (ET). This special worldwide rosary was organized by the Knights of Columbus, the Archdiocese of Mexico City and the Institute of Guadalupan Studies in observance of the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence. The event honors Our Lady of Guadalupe as the “Shield and the Patroness of Our Liberty” and as the Mother of the Civilization of Love.

About Insurance

Since our founding in 1882, the primary mission of the Knights of Columbus has been to protect families from the financial ruin caused by the death of the breadwinner.

In the beginning, Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney and his fellow Knights “passed the hat” to benefit widows and orphans.

From that humble start, the Order has grown to include top-rated life insurance, long-term care insurance and retirement products.

With more than $75 billion of insurance in force and a full-time field force of more than 1,400 serving our members and their families, we are proudly fulfilling Fr. McGivney’s vision.

The best way to learn about our products is by arranging a visit with a local field agent. Your agent can custom design an insurance program to meet your current needs, help you plan for the future or simply explain the many fraternal benefits that come with membership. To contact the agent in your area, use our convenient Find An Agent feature on the Supreme website at www.kofc.org.

The Knights of Columbus is Your Shield of Protection for Life.

McGivney Prayer

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, You called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant Fr. Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of Your Holy Will. Through his Intercession, grant the request I now make (mention your request.) Through Christ, our Lord,  Amen.

Continue with and finish the prayer with an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be.

The website of the McGivney Guild is http://www.fathermcgivney.org/mcg/index.do. He has been elevated to the title of Venerable so he is one step closer to Sainthood.
